Ciao coffee comes from four people with years inside the beverage industry, watching how the average mass-market coffee actually gets made. Tobias, Felix, Anton, and Dennis kept circling the same question: why does something we drink daily have to come with a trade-off; a sour stomach, a long supply chain, an environmental cost we rarely think about?

Their answer was to drop the coffee bean entirely. Ciao is made from European rye, barley, and chicory, roasted into malty, caramel notes instead of bitterness and acid. Up to a hundred times gentler on the stomach, which is exactly what keeps showing up in customer reviews. It also travels less, uses far less water, and cuts CO2 by around 90% compared to conventional coffee.

There's no founder's personal awakening or family workshop behind it, just four industry insiders who saw a broken default and decided "good enough" wasn't good enough. Practical, German, a little understated, in the way things often are when the people behind them come from making rather than storytelling.
